The more popular the Heets HeatSticks become in Canada, the more people want to learn more about what this technology is. And if there is more than enough data about the device itself and the technology for heating tobacco. There is not much information about Heets HeatSticks for IQOS.
What are they made of? Is there any tobacco inside? Why in the stick filter? Is there plastic in this filter and can it melt? We visited the Philip Morris International R&D Center, and figured out what is actually contained within this innovative product.

Why don’t Heets HeatSticks burn?

They do not burn, not because there is no tobacco, but because each stick is wrapped in foil paper. Tobacco inside is just the real and best quality. By the way, only 13% of the world’s tobacco raw materials are suitable for Heets HeatSticks. It does not look like regular tobacco, because it is crushed and pressed, it is very important that the tobacco is good, without sticks and veins, otherwise it will not evenly heat up and it will turn out to have an unstable taste. The amount of tobacco, as in a regular cigarette, is only equipped in a much more compact way, but it is important that the quantity of nicotine is also not lesser.
What else besides the tobacco is contained in Heets HeatSticks?

In addition to the Heets HeatSticks tobacco, propylene glycol and glycerin are both here to keep the tobacco moist, and the user can inhale a smoke-like aerosol. Both substances are completely everyday and are part of the product, from cookies to creams. Compared to cigarette smoke, aerosol contains 90% less harmful substances, a fact already proven by many studies.
With tobacco it’s clear, but what about the filter?
The filter on the Heets HeatSticks is similar to the filter of a regular cigarette only externally, since there is no combustion process, it has practically nothing to filter and consists of 3 parts. The first part is a hollow acetate tube (the same material as in cigarette filters) fixes the tobacco inside the stick so that it does not move when in contact with the heating blade.
The second thing is a corrugated biopolymer filter absorbs excess moisture from the aerosol.
