Where does one buy cheap cigarettes in the Prescott area? We’re moving there in a few weeks and we’ve found that the taxes are BRUTAL in AZ. I’ve heard that they can be bought cheaper at indian reservations but I have yet to locate one……. Help!

I don’t smoke so do not know if they tasted different but they were Marlboros. 08 31 2007, 07 43 AM bb5745 Location Texas Hill Country, TX 62 posts, read 312,620 times Reputation 48 aj661, have you ordered from the smokinfree website? I assume so, since you recommended curious as to if they’re reliable/fast shipping/good customer service? Yes I have. I used to buy from a store in Wilmington, NC. I had developed a friendship with the people who ran the place and the service was great. They left the cigarette business about six months ago so I took a chance on this internet store. They were the cheapest for the brand I smoke, so I took a chance with a small order. I was somewhat worried because they go by several names I found them under ABC Smokeshop. They delivered them in less than ten days. The down side is they don’t take credit cards. You have to do an online check (routing number and account number). I’ve placed three orders so far and haven’t had any problems. This last time I made a mistake so I called the toll free number and they made the correction and the order arrived in eight days. They ship by US mail. Order five cartons or more and shipping is free. It’s been a relatively good deal for me because they are three bucks/carton cheaper than what I used to pay, plus the free shipping. 08 31 2007, 09 38 AM Bummer Location Southern Arizona 7,535 posts, read 13,992,621 times Reputation 5583 Quote Originally Posted by trichard Where does one buy cheap cigarettes in the Prescott area? Back when I smoked, we used to pass through Az (I was a truck driver) and stopped at one in particular, it was an Indian gift store, though I cant remember where it was, and we would be able to pick up our smokes by the cartons, no tax, and they were pretty inexpensive then.
These days, Im not sure what they go for on the rez and havent smoked in years so….. 11 01 2007, 11 53 AM mburnell Location Arizona 11 posts, read 21,960 times Reputation 10 Clarkdale and Camp Verde both have sales on the reservation. 12 12 2007, 04 12 AM uli2000 369 posts, read 782,262 times Reputation 259 I believe in NY a couple of years ago, the state went after anyone purchasing cigarretts over the internet for tax evasion. People who didnt pay the taxes on them got hit for back taxes and fines, some amounting to thousands of dollars. It looks like from the AZ department of taxation ( ), tax free cigs on the reservation are only avalible to tribal members, all other must pay the tax ($.10/cigarette or $2/pack). If you buy cigarettes over the internet that are not taxed either in AZ or other states, you have to remit the tax yourself to the state.

Personally, as a healthcare worker who works closely with patiens with respiratory illnesses caused by smoking, your best option is to quit, if not for your health, for you pocketbook. If you are concered about saving money on smokes, look at how much money you will save if you dont buy smokes. At $5/pack, a one pack per day habit is costing you $1825/year in smokes, not taking into account other things like the gas you use to buy them, the cost of healthcare for smoking related illnesses, and lost work because of smoking related illnesses.
